Ichiro Akuto’s Chichibu Distillery may have only started distilling in 2008, but it has already produced some of the world’s most celebrated whiskies in its short history.
This Black Rock exclusive single cask bottling, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2019, represents the very essence of Chichibu’s craft — precision, character, and depth. Matured in a 2nd refill hogshead that previously held both Hanyu and Chichibu spirit, the whisky marries heritage with innovation in a remarkable display of balance and intensity.
Expect baked apple, roasted hazelnuts, and gentle barbecue smoke, layered over creamy oak and subtle sweetness. Bottled at a natural 62% ABV, it’s a bold and beautifully expressive dram from one of Japan’s most exciting distilleries.
This split cask was hand-selected by Speciality Drinks exclusively for Black Rock, with only 154 bottles ever produced.
